Undeniably Dutchman Contracting does beautiful, high quality work, as they did with our luxury renovation But where they really excel is the creative problem solving during the construction process and the follow through after the construction is done. Bearing in mind that we are not completed, and that nothing is done until it's done, I am more than satisfied -- happy would not be too strong a word -- with our relationship. Your professionalism and that of your team has been outstanding, from the standpoint of responsiveness, attacking problems and issues as they arise, and (not to put it last) the quality of the work. It is, of course, the last area that I have to suspend final judgment on, because we are just starting the finished-work phase of the project, but I have every expectation that the final product will match the quality of the work so far. Your commitment not merely to getting the job done but to getting it done right has been the dominant characteristic of the year this has been going on. In a city filled with horror stories of unreliable contractors and work
not being complete, Dutchman is like a fairy godmother. In six months,
Dutchman gutted and completely renovated a wonderful two bedroom one
bath 1920 west village historic apartment into a "spectacular" high end
two bedroom, two bath home. Tom, Anthony and Roy along with many
subcontractors paid such attention to detail and kept the integrity of
the original apartment. The quality of workmanship and hard work they
put forth should be a Harvard Business School case study. This company
is "top shelf" and if pictures are worth a 1000, I would suggest that
you look at the before and after of Waverly.

We worked with Dutchman throughout 2005 on the combination of two apartments on the upper West side, a project that required significant demolition, rewiring , new plumbing, installation of all flooring and wall surfaces, stonework and cabinetry. They are the consummate professionals - from the very well-thought out budget, to the options provided in advance of any change orders. We adore our new home, due in large part to the quality of their workmanship and the excellent communication that was established throughout the project. As an Interior Designer, I worked with Dutchman Contracting on a very large loft renovation several years ago and, more recently, a small apartment renovation. In both cases their work has been splendid - every member of Dutchman's team takes pride in a job-well-done; they offer up imaginative and cost-effective solutions to awkward construction conditions; and they call on their extensive experience to make the final product even better than hoped for.
I must say that working with Dutchman's Project Manager on the latest project, was very reassuring and a refreshingly positive experience. Everyone has heard of or experienced horrible 'bad contractor' situations; but Anthony and his crew belied the stereotypes. They have been forthcoming with information, honest and fair in all money dealings, and have made excellent suggestions - more than once they saved us from a stupid decision.
